Schacht Wanting a Jumbo Flyer Movement (the musical)
We Schacht owners are a dedicated bunch. We adore our wheels for their versatility and often have them as our only wheel. We think they are perfect! Except...For...One...Thing.

No jumbo/plying flyer & bobbin. Man, you can only fit like 2 -3 ounces of plied yarn onto a bobbin before you have to *break* the yarn and start a new bobbin. This is not goodness. Ruins the flow of the process, not to mention you can end up with odd sized skeins (an important consideration for those of us who sell handspun yarns).

I've actually considered purchasing a different wheel *gasp!* for plying purposes.

We have been lamenting this sad state of affiers in the Schacht Spinners group on Ravelry. Late last night this popped into my head. Y'all know the tune - sing along!

You know, if one person, just one person asks they may think she's a whiner and they won't pay attention to her.

And if two people, two people ask for it, in harmony, they may think they're both needy and they won't pay attention to either of them.

And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in asking for a jumbo flyer and walking out? They may think it's an organization.

And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day walking in asking for a jumbo flyer and walking out?

And friends they may thinks it's a movement.

And that's what it is, the Ravelry Wanting a Jumbo Flyer Movement, and all you got to do to join is sing it the next time it comes around on the guitar.

With feeling. So we'll wait for it to come around on the guitar, here and sing it when it does. Here it comes.

We can ask for what we want from the Schacht Spindle Company...

Always sounds like Thanksgiving to me...

I mean, I mean, I MEAN, I'm sitting here on the bench, I'm sittin' here on the Group W bench...

What about the string vs an elastic band? I just broke my string, and I'm having trouble getting it back together.

I prefer string over the elastic bad. I feel it gives me finer control over my spinning. See my other post on sewing drive bands for some tips on new drive bands.
