Last night I went to the used book store and bought a big pile of books to get me through the holiday season. I had completely run out of reading material. 28 books for $89 isn't too bad. Pretty cheap entertainment, all things considered. I already finished one of the books - much better then just lying awake into the night.
I also bought some bath things and some paper plates. Should make life more bearable. And I got one of those roll up things so I can get my puzzle back out. More cheap entertainment.
Today I bit the bullet and did something that I hate to do - went to a new mechanic in town to get my oil changed and my tires done. For $76 bucks they changed the oil, checked all the juices, got a new air filter, and then swapped the tires around and balanced them. Something with my battery too. They were very nice, did not make me feel like an idiot, and took the time to show and explain every single thing to me. Not that I fully understood all of it, but they did take the time. Even showed me how my tires aren't round anymore. Very nice people, and I will certainly be going back to Green Earth Auto Repair. Their best recommendation was the German Shepherd Jake, who is an old guy but well loved and well taken care of. We got to play ball a little bit. I miss my dogs.
I also talked to a couple of people outside my department at work yesterday and let them know that they aren't treating me and R*** properly. That we don't appreciate it and that something needs to be done, as *we* are two of the few people here *making* money. I don't know that anything will come of it, but at least people who understand our contribution now know there is a problem. Too bad it isn't the people who should pay attention to these things on a regular basis, but those people seem to be too wrapped up in their own deals.
Maybe if it warms up a bit this afternoon I will go for a walk.
