Relationship Breakers
Sparked by a posting from a community...

Abuse – of people, substances, things
Lack of honesty about the important things
Lack of communication skills
Serious mental illness
Inability to learn
Inability to break out of harmful/destructive patterns
Lack of respect
Serious fiscal irresponsibility
Unsafe sex practices
Not being self-sufficient - being a deadweight
Double standards
Continual drama
Lack of connection with reality
Not making appropriate time & effort
Lack of initiative

Hmmmm, my list is longer than I thought...

*nod* Many of these are cumulative issues. For me these are the kinds of things would build up over time and would cause a relationship to fail if left unaddressed.

How much time is an interesting discussion of debate. Waybackwhen it would take a lot before I finally backed off , as I get older (wiser, more whatever) the amount of tolerance for some of these has gone down. But it really does depend on the person, the situation, and the past interactions.

I think it boils down to respect. Do you respect me? Do you respect yourself?

I'm still thinking what would be an immediate relationship-breaker.
