There are mountains today. The foothills rise above the town in all their glory, reaching into the kind of crystal blue sky found only in Colorado. Fleecy alabaster clouds majestically sail the azure skies, harmonizing with the snow-capped peaks of the Continental Divide.
'Tis one of the cherished warm days that we are privileged to enjoy occasionally over the winter – t-shirt and Teva's weather. The kind of day that inspires the child in all of us to play hooky and go for a hike or a bike ride.
I chose to spend my lunch hour outside to enjoy this special treat. Found a place out back, where I sat on the sun-warmed flags of the little stone wall. The brilliant sun warmed my bare arms as a gentle breeze played idly with a strand of my hair. I was privileged to observe a red-tailed hawk float without effort on the thermals above the open space, hanging motionless in defiance of gravity. I spent a time enjoying the muted symphony of the open space and it's inhabitants. Enjoying this brief respite in my busy day.
For a few, precious moments my world was at peace.
