Coffin Rides

Coffin rides – not coffin races, those are up the hill.

Went over to BCH for an MR this morning. 7:15 is just too early to be anywhere on a civilized day *yawn* Especially when I was up late *again* watching the Olympics. I did manage to remember all the important things, tho managed to leave my cell at home again. Tights have nowhere to hang the darned thing.

Those new GE scanners a very nice. Even tho it resembles nothing more than being stuffed into a little metal coffin and having someone hammer on the outside, the new machines are quieter (that being a very relative term) and generally more pleasant. *smile* Quick too – the scan only took 20 minutes for a full cervical series, sagital & axial.

As usual, the BCH folks were very nice and very professional. I knew the drill, so I showed up in my old sweats (there’s no getting around having to keep that big magnet cool) and had removed my navel ring (thanks for all the reminders everyone *smile*). They asked all the standard questions and I assured them I knew the drill, working where I do. The gal seemed happy with that, so she stuck me in the tube and off we went. When we were done the tech thanked me for being her easy patient of the day and we joked a bit about how we’d all be looking at my scans at work later.

While I waited for both my scan and then later the films, there was a very nice but very nervous lady out in the waiting room. I had, of course, brought along my knitting so I was able to distract her a bit by showing her my handspun and the scarf I’m working on. The poor lady seemed quite upset at the prospect of the MR scan, having admitted that she is claustrophobic. I’m sure they gave her some happy pills to get through the procedure.

So it looks like I have a little poochie disk (C3-C4), but that shouldn’t be causing a problem, really. It seems that we need to adjust my ergonomics at work to avoid pressure or something.

Today is also the day that everyone is out and I’m alone in the tower, so I’m just waiting for the wildfires…
