A trip gone terribly awry
It's 3 am, and I'm finally home.

After only 17 hours of *traveling* today (little more than 21 hours since I got up yesterday morning).

Almost exactly 36 hours after I was originally supposed to be home.

I wish I knew someone at United to bitch to - about a dozen of us missed the connection (after big stupid delays at both Logan and Dulles) to the 5:30 pm flight by about a minute and a half, thereby costing us 6 hours *sigh* They hadn't even retracted the jetway fully. It's not like the didn't know we were booked on the flight. I would be *extremely* unhappy that not one but two United employees *refused* to call the gate to tell them we were running down the concourse to try to make it, but I'm just too damned tired to care anymore. Unfortunately, by tomorrow they won't care about something so far in the past. I understand that they may not have been able to do anything, but refusing to try is simply not acceptable. Not to mention they didn't have anyone at the arrival gate from Boston to tell us what gate our connection was at, and the people on the plane didn't seem to care to check that for us. After an entertaining few hours of constantly changing flight times, we finally managed wheels up from Dulles at 11:30 pm, being the second to last plane to leave the airport for the night. I have 3 emails from today from my boss, which I am bloody not well going to read right now.

It's been a long damned day. I dont think I even remember anything else from the weekend except for snow and dealing with United at this point.

Time for a short nap, before getting up for work in 3 hours.

Of course, I'm wide awake.

As the kids these days say: OMFGWTFBBQ!
Oh, C! I'm SO sorry. If I'd had any idea, I would have driven you to Newark on Monday. In hindsight, you probably would have gotten home faster by hammering on United there to change your ticket.

It was so nice to actually get to spend some time talking to you--and you made a big hit with prettypammie. She may not swoon all over CZ (somehow she's immune to his "beacon") but she seems to approve of his taste in spouse and girlfriend. * grin *

Thanks Pete, I really appreciate your kind thoughts. It was a pretty horrible day, and not having anyone to talk to made it seem to last forever.

It was nice to meet you and Pammie and that cutiepie Mr. Quinn. Horsegeeking was one of the highlights of my weekend *smile*

Have a great weekend.

Great thing about a con--you're almost guaranteed to find JUST your kind of geek there...
