An old SCA portrait. Gods I miss Blackfox.

Very nice....
Yes, very nice indeed...

It's nice to see his work again...My first pennsic was the year before he died... I didn't have the chance to get my portrait done, but promised myself I'd do it the following year... Oh for missed chances. :-(

Did he do you as a leopard?

Hugs,
Firebow

Re: Very nice....
But of course I'm a leopard - I do have spots, after all *grin*

Oh for missed chances. :-(

Yes *frown* Mark and I had been friends for many years, but then I dropped out of the SCA to do school stuff and we lost touch. I touched base at one point to find that he had passed away and no one had told me *frown*

I remember... him piping just for me at sunrise... goofing off and picking on the hatted folk (before either of us were)... sitting in his booth for long hours just watching and chatting... late night partying... torturing people at feast... long phone chats... torchlight jig dancing... the many many inside jokes for Warthaven and Red Shetland (a couple at my expense over the years)... and he always wore that silly necklace of black and white glass beads that I made - I still see it in old pictures and it makes me smile. And remember. And miss him with all my heart.

Another friend of mine wrote this:

WILLIAM BLACKFOX

The pipes are stilled, no longer will they sound,
To herald the beginning of a court,
No more with joy will revels now abound,
Nor will his voice of songs raise in support.

The quill laid down will not be used again,
To tell Warthaven's tale in simple frames,
No longer at his wit shall we all grin,
Nor smile at his parodies of names.

Such a great soul gone, in but a blink,
And we are left to mourn in sorrow deep,
And though to his fond memory I'll drink,
For now I can do nothing else but weep.

Oh William, it was too soon to depart,
We who remain will hold you in our hearts.

Master Chidiock the Younger

... who misses Mark always making the time to tell me I was pretty... damnit - I hate weeping first thing in the morning...

Re: Very nice....
Spots like mine I'm thinking... redheaded leopard-boy :-) It's how I wanted him to draw me...

You're luckier than I, as you actually knew him more than in passing. He always seemed so wonderful, and to hear tell of folk I knew who knew him better, He was someone I would've dearly loved to know.

Master Chid's Poem I do believe I've read before... it's very familiar

And weeping first thing isn't on my top 10 list either...

The "good old days", as it were...happiness shared with a friend. And thank you for sharing that glimpse with me

He always struck me as a good judge of people... and while I don't recall seeing a picture of you, what I've read tells me you're pretty.

Hope your day brightens with happy memories, not darkens with thoughts of loss.

Hugs,
Firebow

...who thanks you for the reminder...to send in my renewal :-)
