Email is great, phone calls from customers and the field will be given all the usual politeness, and chitchat (they are the exception), specifically directed questions that can be answered in the fewest number of words possible will work. But no chatting, no big explanations, no discussions, none of that crap here in the office. The bare minimums (very politely, of course), nothing more. By 8:30 this morning I had been blatantly interrupted (run over, cut off, physically *stepped in front of* while speaking to a third party) by cow-orkers while speaking (words were still coming out of my mouth) 5 times - once because someone needed *emergency!* french hair braiding instructions. It's driving me fucking crazy!
I see no reason to bother any further. It's just not worth the effort of opening my mouth. They can all talk to themselves, since their needs and opinions are so much more important than anything I might have to say.
Maybe this is the big realization that I don't have to make myself heard. Perhaps it's a big clue, and I should practice this sort of thing in life in general, instead of running my mouth. I'll have to think on that more.
To round out today's experience both J & R are out sick for the second day in a row, so it's just me with some help from RG.
I think I will enjoy the silence.
