Anonymous Internet annoying now a federal offense
"Buried deep in the new law is Sec. 113, an innocuously titled bit called "Preventing Cyberstalking." It rewrites existing telephone harassment law to prohibit anyone from using the Internet "without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy." Entire article here

Some days New Zealand really looks better - or at least more sane... *sigh*

Are you fucking kidding me? Where is this shit?
-the redhead-theredhead on January 9th, 2006 08:11 pm (UTC)
Nope, not joking. There are a host of links in the article, and I did check out the approved final wording of the bill on Thomas - it's right there.

Urgh. You know there are still people going on in replies in that one lj thread in my journal, about it all? So glad I nuked that cesspool. Good riddance.

No way! They are *still* going on? Ooooh - can I come play too? ;)

...who thinks that the continuation of that crap just goes to show they shouldn't get anything back from the old community...

Can I say that how Josi continues to go on is absolutely hysterical *giggle*. Oh, and I really like the hypocrisy of the whole crochet drama fest and her 'big stand on principle' versus her deciding not to pull her work from that book when they lied to her becuase 'that gal has done so much for crochet'...

The whole situation is absolutely nuts. Just nuts.

You know, I'll freely admit there's often been many things about that community that got me down, and that it had been a long time since I was able to really get anything out of it for me personally, and I'll also freely admit that I've stated I just don't get some of the things people make, and that I don't get LOTS of things about all kinds of parts of the fiber world. Possibly the biggest thing I don't get is why the entire fiber scene seems permanently stuck in the 7th grade girls' locker room.
