There's a reason why we think in yards...  
...instead of feet or miles. It's too scary and depressing.

I was explaining to an artist friend that I would get about 1500 yards of laceweight from 4 oz of fiber for a large shawl project. But that was actually 4500 yards of work (2 singles plus plying).

His *so* helpful response was 'That's over 2 1/2 miles.'

I let him know I didn't need quite so much help figuring everything out...

So you don't like it in miles. Would saying that it was 162,000 inches help any?
