Creepy Weirdness?
So, I signed up on one of those matching/date finding type services (PMM). Had received a message from a man today, had messaged back *briefly*. No big deal right? Got the following back from him. Not quite sure what to do about anything, other than change my user name or delete from that site. Why are people like this? I mean, do people not get the point of anonymous sites like this? A little much for a second or third message, no?It has made me unhappy, to say the least. *shudder*

But it's nonsense that you'd bore us. Hope I don't scare you, but you're my #1 interest on PMM right now.

I have to confess something... "******" seemed like such an unusual nickname, I thought I'd see if you used it elsewhere on the Net. I did a google search for it, and found the ******* (domain) website. I happened across your photos directories
(ed - no, he had to *hunt* for it, as my index page is very carefully blank) there and learned a lot about you. I learned your name, too, and searched for that, and learned more from that.

I'm not trying to stalk you or anything, but the more I learned the more intrigued I got. I am the curious sort with too much time on his hands (though I did this in about an hour's time). I hope you'll excuse my snooping. I don't mean to alarm you. I'm totally benign. Here's what I've learned about you from off the Net:

Name: 'my name here'
Possible Address: 'my old address here' (with 'ex-husband's name here'?)
Possible Phone: 'my old phone number here'?

-Heavily involved in *** ***.
-Now working *********?
-Studied 'my degree'
-Does some web design/mastering.
-Likes to 'my hobby here'.
-**** Graduate?
-Breeder of *********, some for competition?
-'my activity here' - Advisory Board Chairwoman (in 1994)

No, him giving me all his information and websites doesn't make this all 'better' *snort*

-the redhead-
...tempted to send someone to his house and give him a little taste of rudeness...

*shudders* That's so creepy. How can people do that. Man, I feel horrible and stalkery enough just for like, Googling the names of my friends and stuff.

Ugh. I'm sorry. Well, I guess that's the sort of thing they always warn us about...

That is really scary - I would first notify the site about what he has done as I am sure it is against their policy of anonymity.

Second I would delete that profile and start a new one (with a name that won't hint at who you really are!)

Mmm... I've been turning this over in my head all evening and I still can't figure out how this could be considered anything other than complete stupidity on the other person's part.

If you want to get to know someone these things take *time*. And there are protocols to follow and work with. You don't just short-circuit right to "Is this where you live; correct me if I'm wrong".

Personally I haven't been too impressed with the social skills of people on a number of communities. As a friend of mine said "The odds are good, but the goods are odd". Sorry this one turned up such a clunk.

I'd like to get to know you myself, but I'm not gonna stalk you to do it!

definately creepy.... and lacking in manners
but look on the bright side- he openly TOLD you how much he had learned about you and how easily he had done it... so he's probably at least NOT out to harm you....

You are now forewarned that your privacy isn't quite as private as you would like.... Now you can try to take preventative measures to have this not happen with someone far more dangerous....
